How to throw a beautiful wedding with minimal flowers?

I have been thinking about this topic for a very very long time. Flowers are beautiful, but I also know how expensive it CAN get and the truth is, not everyone would like to spend or even have that kind of money. So what are your other options?

I do understand that flowers have been deeply associated with weddings for a very long period of time that it almost seems impossible to get married without. But if you think about it, weddings are way more personal than it used to be.

Fewer guest count is completely normal and preferred in my opinion. Wedding ceremonies can be shortened if you want. Indian weddings have even started having bridesmaids!!! You see. Things are changing and so having a wedding with fewer flowers doesn't seem impossible.

I'm sure you are telling yourself how pretty flowers are and how it can change the look of the entire venue.

I mean everything does look really dreamy and classy right? I hear you!!

But what if you can't fit that in your budget? Let's talk about that.

Scroll further down to see some alternatives that you can consider using instead of flowers:

1) Fruits: Believe it or not, fruits work really well as decorative elements. You can add fruits to your bridal bouquet, centerpieces, table numbers, place cards and your wedding decor. Fruits give out a fresh feeling to the table setting that your guests will absolutely love, add color to your room and that smell of fresh fruits...ummmmmm :)

It's a completely new idea that is not yet common in wedding parties, so this will definitely surprise your guests. You can even use fake fruits if need be. Now a days you can get almost real looking fruits on amazon, etsy etc. This will really help you save some costs.

2) Greenery: Why not bring outdoors, indoors!? Greenery gives you a classic look and it will be way cheaper than flowers. There are a variety of inexpensive greenery that you can use to create a beautiful lush bouquet/centerpiece. Silver dollar eucalyptus, leather leaf greenery and parvifolia are just a few of many to look into.

There are quite a few benefits for picking greenery and other than pricing, a major one would be longevity of the greenery. You don't have to worry about them wilting. Again, talk to your florists of the type of greenery you can use that will help you save costs. There are some greens that may be just as much as if you were buying flowers. So have that open communication with your floral company.

You can even consider live and potted plants. The best part of this option is that your potted greenery does not end up in trash after a few days. If you are a couple that loves herbal centerpieces think about rosemary, basil, thyme and/or oregano. All those pretty roses and orchids can come with a substantial price tag, so if you're looking for more volume without breaking the bank, greenery is the way to go.

3) Lanterns and Candles: Adding candles to your decor gives you a romantic feel to the space. Taper candles do come in all colors (you can match it with your theme and color pallet) and when you buy them in bulk, you can get it at an even greater price.
Instead of using the white regular candles, mix and match them up with some taper and some regular to add visual interest to your table look.

Utilizing lanterns for your wedding decor is a great idea because they are extremely versatile and can be found in a variety of styles that will work great regardless of what the theme or feel is like of your big day. Brightly colored lanterns are a great way to add a pop of color, while still keeping that more traditional candle aesthetic.

4) Baby’s breath
: Technically these fall under a type of flowers, but these fillers are very affordable and give such a contemporary and chic look to your decor. They are just soooo awesome and sooo inexpensive!!!

Did you know that you can even match baby breath to your color theme!?

5) Silk florals: Have you thought about these? You get the same look as flowers, you can keep them forever and you can re-use them in the house after the wedding.
Afloral.com and Etsy are some great places to shop for silk florals and they are usually way cheaper than the real flowers. It can't get any better than this. Right?

Tip: Ask your venue what you can use. Quite a few venues these days offer centerpieces and/or candles in their inventory that you can use. Some even offer basic floral centerpieces for the head and guest tables. See what they have and make use of that.

I would suggest hiring a really talented decorator if you do wish to have your wedding with minimal flowers.

Trust me when I say this, a good wedding decorator will happily support your ideas and do their best to make them come true.
